Sadly there hasn’t been a lot good to report for ice, but that appears to be changing as we type this report. Last night was in the mid-teens for an overnight low and the extended forecast looks decent for generating some safe and solid ice. I expect by the end of this weekend that we’ll be drilling holes and running down tip-ups. A lot of the local hard water we fish stays reasonably protected from the sun light being hidden in the hills. This allows us to get out there a lot sooner than most other areas in the state. We have many options based on which species you’re looking to target. Most ponds are full of small and large mouth bass, pickerel, perch, crappie, brown trout, rainbow trout, brook trout, and golden shiners. For those interested we have hardware to target Northern Pike as well! We will be on the ice through the end of March and provide all necessary fishing gear and bait.
Ice fishing is a great family or social group activity for those looking for that winter adventure to make memories!
December 30th we did a “Trophy Trout on Streamers” presentation at Stone River Outfitters 1 NH-101A Unit 1, Amherst NH 03031. This presentation was approximately an hour and a half covering everything from basic equipment, rigging, water types, fly patterns, presentation, hook sets, and much more. If you’re close to Stone River Outfitters or passing through the area I strongly recommend you stop in and see Nate, he’s extremely hospital and the shop stock of equipment and tying material is extensive, you wont be disappointed!
For those that wish they could have been there, here’s your opportunity!
January 23rd 6:30-8 P.M. at Concord Outfitters 113 Commonwealth Ave, Concord MA 01742
We hope to see you there!!!
